2015 Halloween Events in Victoria

Halloween is always a big event in Victoria with plenty to do. Check out local kids activities, ghost tours, haunted houses, bonfires, festivals and events taking place during the season of the pumpkin. And make sure to share your experiences using the hashtag #VictoriaBOO!

Kids Activities

Princess Masquerade Ball

Where: Fairfield Community Place, 1330 Fairfield Rd

Clairvoyant medium Dawn Kirkham and members of her paranormal investigating team Beyond Belief Paranormal Events will lead a walk through the cemetery and share information they receive from the location or the spirits they encounter. They will also explain what clairvoyance is and demonstrate some basic techniques they use.

Annual Ghost Tour

One of the OCS’s most popular annual tours is based on ghost stories linked to people buried at RBC. On some of the graves the occupants might even seem to come to life and tell their tales. Extra guides will be on hand for large numbers. Part of the Ghosts of Victoria Festival.

Horse Drawn Ghost Tours

Where: Victoria Carriage Tours, Belleville & Menzies St.

Prepare for Halloween by learning about Victoria's spooky history. We will travel through the most haunted parts of James Bay telling the best ghost stories the city knows. Let's try to spot ghosts - Cameras recommended! Children must be accompanied by an adult. Tickets are non-refundable - Unless cancelled due to weather. Tours are 45 minutes. Call for reservations.

Original Ghost Bus-tours

Original Ghost Bus Tours have been showcasing Victoria's most haunted places for the past twenty-two years. They are developed and conducted by well-known historian and ghost storyteller, John Adams, on behalf of the Old Cemeteries Society as one of the society's major fundraisers. They are two-hour excursions in the dark in the comfort of a luxury coach. Routes are different each year and there will be two stops for on-site ghost hunting. No special effects but lots of spooky stories. Suitable for children, but stories are geared for adults.

Haunted Victoria Tours

Visit some of the most haunted locations in North America, with a historical look at the unexplained happenings from the past. Travel by bus and on foot to search out the undead in locations such as Bastion Square, Pioneer Square & the Helmcken House grounds!

Spooks 'n Spokes Ride

Where: Centennial Square

One of the most popular rides we offer! Come join in on this easy 15- km night ride and learn about the spirits who live in some of the finest homes and castles of Victoria. The ride departs from the fountain at Centennial Square at 6:30 pm and ends there at about 9 pm. Costumes and decorated bicycles are encouraged. Participants are required to wear helmets and bicycles must be in good mechanical condition. All Night Rides require functioning front and rear lights.

Murder Most Foul

Where: Ross Bay Cemetery (begins at 1516 Fairfield Rd.)

Back again by popular demand, Michael Halleran takes us to graves of murderers and their victims and tells the grisly tales he has found in coroners’ files, old newspapers and through interviews with family members. This is an annual tour, but is different each year.


Haunted Houses

Festival of Fear

Where: Galey Farms, 4150 Blenkinsop Road

Festival Of Fear - signature event has four main venues, featuring a Haunted House  for kids, and the much, much scarier 6000 square foot Carnevil Haunted House for adults. The Cornfield of Horror is fully animated and features The Haunted Mansion, Pirates Island, The Addams Graveyard and many more fabulous displays. Fun for all ages during the day, but gets much spookier after 6 pm. The Crazy Train has over a mile of animated seasonal displays and great seasonal fun for all ages.

Madame Isabella's Seance is a theater room where everything comes to life and tells a ghost story of years past - it is a little scarier. Carnevil is Victoria's most amazing 6,000 square foot Haunted House of terror (PG13) and has even more new features for this year. Now with 3 chicken exits for the faint of heart. Enter if you dare.

Evil Acres

The Slaughter House is back for its final year, and quite possibly yours too! We've also added enough phobias to the Darkness Maze to ensure that if you didn't have a phobia before.....you will soon. Tix available at the gate, or at any InCharacter Costumes store. Please note: There are intense, gory, and graphic scenes. Not suitable for small children, the squeamish or cowards.


Bonfires

If you live in Saanich you can hold your own Halloween bonfire and fireworks so long as you acquire the appropriate permits by 12 noon on October 31.

Bonfire at Fireman's Park

The Municipality of Oak Bay hosts a giant bonfire in Fireman’s Park, adjacent to the Oak Bay Police Department and Firehall. Enjoy hot dogs, hot chocolate, a Halloween costume contest, and a chance to spray fire hoses!

Bonfire at Fernwood NRG

Where: Fernwood NRG, 1240 Gladstone Avenue

There will be family festivities in the ­Fernwood Community Centre from 6:00pm to 9:00pm. Come inside to warm up with some hot apple cider, served by Fernwood NRG’s youth group and stay to play. There will be a bouncy castle, games and treats to enjoy. The whole ­family is ­welcome. Make sure to wear your favorite costume.

Bonfire at Archie Browning

Where: Archie Browning Sports Center, 1151 Esquimalt Rd.

This is one of Esquimalt’s favourite community events. A huge bonfire plus, a costume contest for all ages with fabulous prizes donated from local merchants. Hot dogs and hot chocolate available by donation with proceeds to the Esquimalt Splash Park initiative. Esquimalt residents will be able to drop-off wood for the bonfire pile starting at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 31st.

Bonfire at Centennial Park

Please join us for our annual Bonfire and Fireworks Display put on by the Central Saanich Volunteer Fire Department.  The bonfire will start at 7:00p.m. with fireworks display at 8:00p.m.  The Central Saanich Lions Club will be there selling hot dogs, coffee and hot chocolate by donation.

Vancouver Island Corn Maze

Arkenham Abbey

ARKENHAM ABBEY is a psychological horror-comedy about the patients of a psychiatric hospital in the English countryside that have taken over and threaten to murder the staff and visitors unless the famous vigilante detective known as The Nightwatchman agrees to meet with them.

On Halloween night, join us for a spooktacular evening of treats & fireworks! There will be live entertainment, carnival games and nibbles & bites for all ages.
