Victoria is a magical and beautiful place to spend the holidays, with plenty of lights and events throughout the city. Here are just some of the events taking place for Christmas, including parades, markets, performances, lights, tours, and brunches with Santa!

MEET WITH SANTA

Breakfast With Santa

He’s making a list and coming to the Oak Bay Beach Hotel to check it twice. This family-style brunch service will include house-made cookie decorating, a visit from Mr. Claus himself, as well as on-site photo printing by Four Frames Photo Booth to bring the merry memories home. 2 to 6 guests per table, reservations required, pre-paid and booked online.

Father Christmas in Helmcken House

Father Christmas is back for a short visit and is inviting guests to sit for heartwarming holiday photos in the front room of historic Helmcken House.  See the good doctor's former parlor as it would have looked during the height of the Victoria era while you sit for a pic with old Saint Nick.

Santa is popping into the Recreation Centre for some photo opportunities this year! Please bring your camera or smart phone to take your photo, or have our friendly staff take the photo for you. Registration is not required but donations for the Rainbow Kitchen are strongly encouraged.

Charles Dickens himself toured Europe and North America delivering staged readings of his famed tale, A Christmas Carol, and now actor Jason Stevens channels the Dickensian spirit within the historic walls of Craigdarroch Castle and brings the world of Victorian England to life with his perennially sold-out performances. Please check in at the Castle/s Visitor Centre before entering the Castle. The performance is recommended for ages 13 and up. This event ticket does not include a tour of the Castle.

Christmas in Versailles

For the Christmas concert we take you to the court of Versailles, for a sumptuous collection of traditional carols and Christmas music. The main work will be Marc Charpentier’s popular Messe de Minuit pour Noel (Mass for the Midnight Service on Christmas Eve), composed around 1690 and based on a series of traditional French carols. This lovely work will be combined with a selection of familiar carols and some seasonal instrumental pieces. The choir will feature several choral scholars from Victoria to sing solo parts. We will be accompanied by Contrasto Armonico (string baroque quintet and baroque flute). This will be a relaxing and traditional way to start your family's Christmas celebrations.

Celebration of Lights Parade

There are many places to watch the parade as it runs along Esquimalt Road from Esquimalt Rd and Canteen Rd to the McDonald’s Entrance. Don’t forget to say hello to the Jolly Old Fellow himself at the end, as Santa loves to wave to the crowd. After the parade, there will be Hot Chocolate & Christmas treats provided courtesy of local churches. Hot Dogs by donation to the Lions. Music by Maureen Washington, Local Schools and a special guest or two. Of course, Santa, who would love for you to stop by and say hello.
