Halloween Theme Skate

Pumpkin Carving Workshop

This workshop is just in time for Halloween! You and your child will pick a pumpkin and a pattern and learn how to carve it safely and creatively. No experience required. We will provide all the materials and tools, and will teach your child some basic through-carving skills such as transferring a pattern and tool control. Original Ghost Bus-tours

Original Ghost Bus Tours have been showcasing Victoria's most haunted places for the past twenty-two years. They are developed and conducted by well-known historian and ghost storyteller, John Adams, on behalf of the Old Cemeteries Society as one of the society's major fundraisers. They are two-hour excursions in the dark in the comfort of a luxury coach. Routes are different each year and there will be two stops for on-site ghost hunting. No special effects but lots of spooky stories. Suitable for children, but stories are geared for adults.

This walk is so popular and funds raised go towards the Old Cemeteries Society to support the amazing work they do. Spooks 'n Spokes Ride

One of the most popular GVCC rides! Join us on the easy 15 km ride and learn about the ghosts and spirits who haunt the city. As this is a night ride, front and rear lights are required. Costumes and decorated bikes are highly encouraged! The ride starts and ends in Centennial Square.

Festival of Fear

Festival Of Fear - signature event has four main venues, featuring a Haunted House  for kids, and the much, much scarier 6000 square foot Carnevil Haunted House for adults. The Cornfield of Horror is fully animated and features The Haunted Mansion, Pirates Island, The Addams Graveyard and many more fabulous displays. Fun for all ages during the day, but gets much spookier after 6 pm. The Crazy Train has over a mile of animated seasonal displays and great seasonal fun for all ages.

Madame Isabella's Seance is a theater room where everything comes to life and tells a ghost story of years past - it is a little scarier. Carnevil is Victoria's most amazing 6,000 square foot Haunted House of terror (PG13) and has even more new features for this year. Now with 3 chicken exits for the faint of heart. Enter if you dare.

Monsters Haunted House: Fear on the Pier

Our haunted houses are where your most frightening dreams become reality. As soon as you enter the front door, you will be transported into a realm of terror - a dark twisting maze through rooms populated with creatures from your worst nightmares. Your only goal will be to elude the predators who stalk you through the darkness - to be a survivor, not a victim, of the house.

Monsters Haunted House is located in a giant warehouse. Most of our waiting line is inside. No pets. No weapons. No alcoholic beverages. No cameras. It is also recommended to leave your valuables at home.

We have no age restrictions so long as the child is (a) accompanied by adult supervision, and (b) wants to go through on his/her own will with no one forcing him/her through. All kids are different. If you think your children will enjoy the scares, then bring them down. Please use appropriate judgement, and remember there are no refunds. Our attractions are not intended for younger audiences.

This event will be a shared event between VIME (Vancouver Island Model Engineers) and SHAS (Saanich Historical Artifacts Society). There will be a ton of creepy things for the younger crowd that aren’t too scary. Pumpkin carving, face painting, and lots of other fun things. A Haunted House, and several other surprises in store for you and your family. A concession stand will be open to keep your tummy happy. Come on out and bring the kids! There will be volunteers from Help Fill A Dream, to accept cash, check or credit card donations. Please use discretion when bringing your children. There WILL be loud noises, gruesome sights and unexpected surprises. You know what your child can handle more than anyone else :) We recommend one parent go through at a time while the other stays back at the entrance with the kids. There will be miniature candies given out at the end of the driveway to small children and large cowards unable to endure the entire haunt. More candy will be given upon exiting. EPIC ESCAPE is a unique experience that will challenge you on every level. In each of our rooms, you will be transported to a different place and time and will be dared to think differently and work as a team. With our "dueling rooms" you will be able to challenge another team to an Epic Escape.  Both teams will have 60 minutes to attempt to get out of identical rooms - however, you're not just battling the clock this time!

The Municipality of Oak Bay hosts a giant bonfire in Fireman’s Park, adjacent to the Oak Bay Police Department and Firehall. Enjoy hot dogs, hot chocolate, a Halloween costume contest, and a chance to spray fire hoses!

Bonfire at Archie Browning

Hosted by the Esquimalt Lions, this is one of Esquimalt's favourite community events. Enjoy the huge bonfire while sipping hot chocolate and eating a hot dog. There is also a costume contest for all ages. Hot dogs and hot chocolate are by donation with proceeds going to the Esquimalt Lions' community fundraising efforts. Esquimalt residents may drop off clean, untreated wood anytime betwen 10:00am and 5:00pm on Monday, October 31st at the Archie Browning Sports Centre rear parking lot in the designated drop off area.

Metchosin Halloween & Bonfire

The Metchosin Volunteer Firefighter's Society and the District of Metchosin will be hosting our annual Halloween party at the firehall on Halloween night.  Doors open at 6pm, costume judging at 7pm and fireworks to begin immediately after sunset. This year we are stepping it up a bit on the scare factor and have put together a ‘haunting hall’ for the brave of heart to enter.  Not to worry, for the wee little ones we have our traditional Halloween costume contest, preschool corner,  free hot dogs & juice, a huge bonfire and of course fireworks!

At last year's event we had well over 600 people on the grounds enjoying the entertainment, games and community spirit.  We served in excess of 500 hot dogs and 40 gallons of juice. Glow-sticks & candy are always popular items with the kids, and our firefighters enjoyed the extra attention. Metchosin can also boast the largest Halloween bonfire in the Western Communities, if not all of Victoria!

Join us for the annual Bonfire and Fireworks display put on by the Central Saanich Volunteer Fire Department.  The bonfire will start at 7:30p.m. with fireworks display at 8:00p.m. The Central Saanich Lions Club will be there selling hotdogs, coffee and hot chocolate by donation.

Vancouver Island Corn Maze

Vancouver Island Corn Maze was started in 2015 at Pendray Farms. After a definite interest and positive feedback in our first year, we decided to move full throttle towards a bigger, better and more inclusive maze. Each year, the theme of the maze is centered around something we feel is important to our community.

Tuesday & Wednesday by reservation only for school groups, birthday parties, or private functions. If it has been raining overnight or for any period of time, you will need boots. On sunny days, bring sunscreen. The maze can take over two hours to complete, so make sure you wear comfortable shoes and dress for the weather. A flashlight or headlamps are recommended if you are planning to come after dark. Four legged friends are not allowed into the maze, so please leave your dogs at home.

Pumpkinfest

Arkenham Abbey

Due to popular demand, last year’s sold out hit Arkenham Abbey is back! Set in Post Edwardian England in an Abbey-turned-sanatorium for the unethically psychotic, the inmates of Arkenham Abbey, meant to perform a play for the public, have instead taken over the asylum and threaten to kill all of the visitors and staff. An homage to everything Batman, from the costumes, to the criminals, to a clever re-creation of all the characters themselves.

WARNING: Due to the close proximity of actors to audience, parents with children under 16 years old should be advised that the show does contain blackouts, screaming, and moments of extreme violence.  Not recommended for children.

Listen to Halloween favourites from Humperdinck’s Hansel and Gretel, Mussorgsky’s Night on Bald Mountain, Paul Dukas’s The Sorcerer’s Apprentice, and Grieg’s Peer Gynt Suite. There will also be a few musical surprises, maybe even including music from a Harry Potter film. Come dressed in costume for some pre-concert trick or treat fun!

Each Halloween, Oak Bay Village hosts a giant community Trick or Treat! Oak Bay Avenue merchants offer treats in stores from Foul Bay Road to Monterey Avenue. Participating merchants are identified by the pumpkin poster in their window. Following the trick or treat, the Municipality of Oak Bay hosts a bonfire in Fireman’s Park with hot dogs, hot chocolate and a Halloween costume contest.
