Fernwood & Oaklands
Originally a heavily forested area, trees are important to the neighbourhood with its many Chestnuts, Garry Oaks and flowering fruit trees. Residents enjoy a great deal of greenspace with a variety of parks sprinkled throughout the area. The Fernwood Urban Village and Haultain Corners boast fantastic restaurants, trendy cafés, and several boutique grocery / retail shops. This charming neighbourhood has continually been on the leading edge of progressive initiatives such as urban permaculture, farmer’s 'pocket' markets, and community-building. The Compost Education Centre, two allotment gardens, and Spring Ridge Commons are community-initiated projects that contribute to the character of the area. The neighbourhood is enlivened by four vibrant schools and two community centres. Fernwood and Oaklands provide some of the most attractive real estate in Victoria.
