Family Day at Esquimalt Recreation

Where: Esquimalt Recreation Centre, 527 Fraser St.

An event for Families! From face painting to carnival games to FREE kindergym. Something for everyone. The pool will be open for families with free admissions. BBQ lunch hosted by the Lions Club - monies raised go to the splash park in Esquimalt.

Sidney Family Day Weekend – A Lego Brick Festival!

This year a number of community organizations and businesses are teaming up for a full three-day weekend of Sidney Family Day LEGO fun! LEGO displays, interactive building opportunities, a treasure hunt, and a professional LEGO builder are just some of the reasons to spend time in Sidney for the 2015 Sidney Family Day LEGO Weekend. There will be so much more to see and build!

What’s That Evergreen? (8 years+)

Where: Francis/King Regional Park, Munn Road in Saanich

Come take a closer look at the survival strategies of our local plants. With a CRD Regional Parks naturalist, you’ll learn about common evergreen species, what keeps these plants green year round and sip some forest tea. Meet at the Francis/King Nature Centre off Munn Road.

Devonian Delight (6 years+)

You get it all on this guided walk – forest, stream, wetland and ocean. Join the CRD to discover, or rediscover, this regional gem. Meet at the information kiosk in the parking lot off William Head Road. BC Transit #54 or #55.

Family Faith Fair

A fundraiser for Syrian Refugees. The Victoria Multifaith Society is hosting a Family Faith Fair, in honour of World Interfaith Harmony Week. The event will feature exhibits by a wide variety of world faiths, multicultural dance performances, a keynote speaker, a World Café, prize draws for the scavenger hunt and fundraiser, and storytelling on universal virtues through stories from different faith traditions. Donations to the refugee program by cash or cheque will provide automatic entry in the Prize Draw.

Modern History Gallery – Opera Performances, 11am - 1pm: Opera singers from the Pacific Opera Victoria take over the galleries with surprising and entertaining performances in the nooks and crannies of the Royal BC Museum.
Natural History Gallery – Photo Activity, 12pm - 3pm: Invite an animal into your family! This portrait activity will allow visitors to re-connect and discover new ideas about nature and family.
First Peoples Gallery – Sketching Activity, 2pm - 4pm: This sketching station in Totem Hall will encourage you to slow down and look more closely at the artwork, while reflecting on the diverse and dynamic communities that have produced such thoughtful and skilled work.

Kids in the Kitchen - Opa! Greek

The London Chef is looking forward to stretching, rolling, stacking, baking and eating with you during their kid-oriented Greek culinary adventure! After decorating Chef's hats, which kids take home with them, the cooking begins. Make hummus and fresh pita, chicken kebabs, tzatziki and Greek flag shortcake! The Amazing Wipala: From a popular Dutch book, comes this wonderfully charming family tale that's a little bit The Borrowers and a little bit Honey, I Shrunk the Kids! 9-year old Johannes is having a bit of a family crisis. His older sister and widowed father just don't seem to pay attention anymore. However, one night, he meets the impish Wipala hiding out in the family kitchen. His new friend might be kind-hearted but he hasn't quite mastered his magic powers yet.

Dress with appropriate weather clothing such as a hat, gloves, layers of fleece and rain jacket and you will all be set for some outdoor fun. This Family Day Pacifica Paddle wants to see many families come together and experience nature at its finest here in Brentwood Bay. Tour Tod Gowland Park and stop at the shore if needed to stretch your legs and enjoy complementary mugs of hot chocolate. At this time of year the seals, otters, eagles and other marine life can be enjoyed while paddling. No previous experience required and children as young as 4 years old can enjoy this 1.5 hour guided tour.
